Sometimes it isn't an option.

I've been there (formerly fat). I would pay for an upgrade or not fly at all. At some point you need to deal with the problem itself.
Good luck and I'm hoping I didn't offend you.

I'm going to ask to pay for an upgrade as soon as the attendant gets here. Not flying isn't an option. It's for work. I've already skipped a family reunion, and vacation this year. I've also been working on it, hard.

Really, OP. Don't worry about it. I never mind when a person who is a bit heavy sits near me. And you will fit in the seat just fine.

I wish I could sit next to you!

If you sit next to a similarly overweight person, then you both will be terribly uncomfortable. I was overweight as was the person next to me. I basically ended up having to lean into the aisle for most of the flight and anytime someone walked by lean in.

I don't think airline seats are even made well for normal weight people.

No seats available in any cabin. Well I guess I'll just suck it up. I get nervous and worried about someone saying something, giving me rude looks, or judging me when I have a snack. Really hope I'm next to good humans

I am sorry. Some people are jerks, but most people are good. If someone says something, they are an a$$hole.

Please don't worry. I always make an effort to be extra friendly to heavy folks and those with small children on flights. It's hard traveling these days and we all need to be kind to each other.

Unless your flight is this week, there's still time to lose some weight.

I'm heavier than you, OP, and the middle seat is fine. It isn't comfortable, but no airplane seat is. You probably are not big enough to be spilling into other's seats.

Good for you.
You sound like a nice person.

I am 6'3" and 300 lbs I can fit in middle seat you are fine

Don't worry, you are going to be fine esp since you are aware of whether you're in someone's space. As someone else pointed out, the worst people are the ones at any size who are just totally unaware and spread themselves and their junk out, kick the seat in front of them, etc.

No, they aren't! I'm 5"1O with normal weight and longish legs, but whenever the person in front of me reclines his/her seat, my knees are hitting my ears!

What I do is try to book an aisle seat so I can sit sideways.. but I feel you, OP! Good luck on your trip!
