Considering two neighborhoods. Fairhill in Merrifield/Mosaic area or Barrett in Arlington area?

I used to live in a neighborhood feeding into Fairhill. We ended up moving to Arlington because at the time, there was construction on every single road around me and my commute got insanely long. But I would have been comfortable sending my daughter to Fairhill. (I wasn't 100% certain about Jackson and FCHS, but they have been on the upswing this last few years since Mosaic opened.) it's not a bad place to live, and you have commuting options for several job centers.

I now live not too far from Barrett, and I have a number of friends whose kids go there. They all seem pretty happy with the school, and the area is great. The test scores are slightly lower than some nearby schools because they have a slightly higher %age of ESL and FARMS kids - that shouldn't deter you. (I think Fairhill was about 20% FARMS/ESL if I remember correctly.)

Barrett is over 56% FARMS.
