What to wear for interview with a startup

OP, you can just ask. "I know this is a casual environment, what would be appropriate interview attire?" I interviewed at a well known local startup a while back and I asked the recruiter. They told me a suit and tie was NOT necessary. I went in a dress shirt and sress pants, blazer, no tie, and it was the right mix of business and casual.

Thanks all. OP here. I wore a suit (pants), a cool t-shirt underneath and open toed sandals with a chunky heel. It was perfect.

Yikes on the open toe but I guess I'm person it looks cool. Would like a visual of this!
