If you're in the DC region, there are a gazillion organizations that need good writers. Trade orgs with their own magazines and newsletters, membership marketing, annual reports. You have to build a portfolio, so probably spend a lot of time freelancing but there's plenty of work out there if you're really good, fast, and have some hustle.
