We do B&Bs a lot in Europe. They are less sterile than big hotels, and in some smaller towns they are what's available. We've really enjoyed some agriturismos in Italy. We also did a lot of them while college visiting (especially SLACS in small towns) and it was nice to talk to the owner and other visiting families at breakfast. The breakfasts are usually quite good.

| Better chance to encounter a ghost. This is a biggie. |
HAHA! |

When I was in my 20's, my bf took me away for a weekend and we stayed in a quaint little B&B. We stayed up all night long having sex, and we were also drinking so I'm sure we weren't very inhibited.
Apologies. |
| Depending on the area of the country, sometimes they're nicer than the Super 8 and Motel 6 that's the only thing within 100 miles. |

| They are quaint, but they do have odd owners and I have yet to stay in one that wasn't dusty and a bit musty. I used to seek out B&Bs, but now I prefer a nice lush hotel, a resort with amenities when possible. It's fun having a pool, bar, spa, gift shop, and restaurants/room service at your disposal. None of that is available at a B&BS. |
Usually those Super 8s are clean and well-kept. I've stayed in several. |
+3 If I wanted a home-like feel, we'd just stay at home. Lol. The only time I really enjoyed staying at a B&B was when I was on a work trip in a small town in England. I loved the room, I loved that the owners were accessible. When DH and I travel, we prefer the privacy and anonymity of being in a hotel room. |

I feel self-conscious at B&B. I'm afraid to have sex b/c people are so personable (not anonymous like at a hotel) and feel like people can hear you (thin walls) or the bed creaking, for example.
I also feel so limited. Like I have to justify my coming and going or be forced to have a leisurely breakfast/meals when really DH and I aren't really breakfast people. |
| I don't like them, OP. I either want to be a houseguest, or on a true vacation. |
| No one has ever been able to convince me of one benefit of staying in a B&B. |
