How much have you spent so far for IVF?

This thread would be more informative if people also posted how many children they have now as the result.

Wow, it sounds like you went through a lot! I am happy you finally had twins to bring home!

I did 2 IUIs and then 2 rounds of IVF w/ICSI. I am currently pregnant with my first, from the 2nd round of IVF. I live in Maryland and my treatment has been covered by insurance, so I have paid very little (probably under $2,000, of which some went to storage for an embryo).

I hope you have at least one take home baby.

DC1 - $20k for shared risk + 5k for meds
DC2 - $23k for 2 fresh IVF cycles + 7k for meds

All OOP but I still consider myself very fortunate.

Anonymous wrote:$30,000 for 3 cycles of IVF, $75,000 and counting for gestational carrier. Looking at upto $50,000 more if we need to donor egg.

Still in the process. This will hopefully be our first child.

I'm just starting this process and wrote a big check last week. For those who've spent $50k and up - did that all just come out of savings? Did you have financial help from family? Did you use loans or some other financing? We are budgeting for 3 cycles max. If that doesn't work, we'll reassess then - I'm leaning towards making peace with it and maybe getting a dog at some point. DH probably would want to adopt. We'll cross that bridge if/when we come to it.

$75K out of pocket (savings) as a fed.
3 rounds NCIVF
2 IVF
# 1 DE transfer failed
#2 DE transfer resulted in current 1.5 year DD.

15k. 3 IUIs, 1 IVF- 1 kid. I feel incredibly lucky. Now that I have her, dh and I have agreed that we'd spend 100k for another. At the time the money really stressed me out, but now it seems SO worth it.

PP who spent over $50,000 (my wife is the patient)....

Several unmonitored IUIs at SG years go (so....maybe $1000)
A few thousand on travel expenses for IVF clinical trial in NYC (didn't pay for IVF because it was a clinical trial) - one healthy almost 4 year old
Many, many cycles after including...

$25,000 for shared risk, followed by TFMR, got all that money back
Went to Cornell, paid $15,000 OOP for one cycle
Insurance covered 3 more cycles at Cornell, but we paid thousands over the past few years in travel expenses, meds, supplements
Went down the immunology rabbit hold mid 2016 and have paid around $15,000 in fees and traveling
Still trying to have #2 after 3 losses. Luckily insurance covered D&E and D&Cs

I just know that when we calculated our medical expenses for 2016 alone, we were over $30,000.

We paid by taking out a second mortgage on our home (already sold condo, made a lot back), and putting other fees on credit cards. Slowly paying those off. We've had some help from family, but have mostly just been working our asses off and living paycheck to paycheck.
