Kellan

I grew up with a boy named Kellan. It was on my list for boys names too! Go for it.

I like Kellan, it was on my list for DS1. A former coworker had a daughter named Kellan, as well.

Kellan is way better than any name you've posted, but Kevin, Keith or Kenneth is better.

+1 Why all the K names? I personally don't like Kellan, but if you like it, OP, go for it.

I honestly don't know why people crowdsource opinions on names. You will always get conflicting opinions, because it's entirely a matter of personal taste and experience! Why do you care what a bunch of strangers think about your child's name? Pick one you like, and be confident in your choice.

I think people only crowdsource the names that their spouse/partner is not on board with. Like they think they can come back with, "everybody on DCUM loved it!" and their DH will say "okay, I was wrong, we can use that name you invented for our child."

Jokes on them because DCUM is just going to tell them it's trendy or trashy. Or both.

Agreed. I crowdsourced my baby's name and DCUM said to go with it. I absolutely hate my baby's name every day. It was a huge mistake that I won't get back.

Knew a guy named Kellen in B School who was oh so hot.

My friend has 3 year old boy Kellen.

Love it.

Don't like, don't exactly hate. It just sounds sort of made up to me.

Yikes. What was the name?

Declan is so much worse than Kellan. Such a harsh sounding name.

It's pronounced Decklan which the emphasis on the first syllable. How it that harsh sounding?

Yes, now I'm so curious! Sorry, OP - that is really tough!

There was this article a while ago about parents who changed their baby's name at 3 months old (Ottilie to Margot) - https://www.buzzfeed.com/stephaniemcneal/these-parents-changed-their-daughters-name-when-she-was-3-mo?utm_term=.glLqEwADl#.ex5wPAjrY

I'm not the PP you quoted, but it just is. Something about the hard "d" and "c", I think.

Wanting to convince a spouse - I hadn't thought of that but it definitely makes sense!

And yes, DCUM loves to call names "trashy," no matter how traditional. It's sort of hilarious. (That's part of why I wonder how useful these name posts actually are to the OPs, because DCUM presents a very extreme/skewed perspective on what's normal and desirable in a name. Trashy = doesn't immediately signify a child of upwardly-mobile UMC urban white parents.)
