How about Wake Forest? I am a bit biased as one of my kids recently graduated from Wake and I can't say enough about what a great place it is.Regardless, it has a well respected business school and does fit most of your D's other criteria.

Also, agree with some of the above suggestions - Richmond, UMCP, Northwestern (although it will be reach).

UCSD is not a good fit given her interests; UCSB is only marginally better. Before you decide whether to visit, have her look at majors available at both places (probably Econ or Communications) and see what she thinks.

I think her daughter can do much better than South Carolina. Also, if Ole Miss and Alabama are nos, id think South Carolina is as well.
