I wouldn't go that far. |
I agree. Penn and Columbia are too selective. |
| No it's not. Didn't OP say legacy too? |
| Especially if she applies ED to Penn |
| OP, do you want merit or the most prestigious? |
| OP here. Don't really want to put out more identifying info, but appreciate the helpful thoughts. ED Penn did seem very attractive. Mostly, I'd like some BTDT advice about filling in the rest of the picks, including safer schools. I appreciate the lottery-like aspect of applications to the top-tier for kids whose stats are very strong, but not top 5%. And in answer to the last question, both kinds of answers are useful, in part because our counselor is overloaded and so I don't have a good sense of comparable safe schools/schools with great programs but not on our radar screen. |
| Didn't you say Hispanic and Ivy legacy along with full pay? Ding, ding, ding. Why not apply to legacy Ivy. |
Definitely want to use the ED/EA card on the schools where your DC is a legacy. Would your DC consider suburban schools? |
| Columbia. |
| I know it's not in a city, but Cornell might be good. Also, what about the New School? |
This. I am seeing this with admissions at my son's private this year. Hispanic is golden in admissions even with lower stats, and less impressive extracurriculars. He ia a great kid and impressive in his own right but not as much as others, but golden in the admissions process. |
