Laptop or desktop for 13yo

Thanks all - you've given me a lot more to ponder!

In 18 months, your computer will be outdated and you would probably have to spend money to update the programs.

It doesn't matter what laptop you get. Windows will make it unusable in 3 years. You can get a decent workhorse laptop for $250 and replace in 3 years.

A Mac Mini was $600. I think it's fabulous. I might steal it back at some point.

How do you run Minecraft on a Mac? I haven't been successful doing this.

Hah! Thanks for more input! My husband only uses a desktop (it's all all-in-one type PC) and the kids will often crowd his desk to look stuff up or watch something w/a larger screen than a tablet. I love my laptop to the point of addiction, but there is something wonderful about working on a larger screen.

Did you download Minecraft Java version from minecraft.net?
