Caught between two jobs. How much should the commute factor

It's a job, not marriage. If you take the new job and don't like it, you can always look for another job.

If it were me, I'd take the new gig and try to negotiate for more vacation time.

Sounds like you need to find a career you like to do. Both jobs sound like crap based on what you said. First one is something you don't want to do and second sounds like its more money for something you don't want to do.

Take this as a wake up call and start shopping around in earnest. I wouldn't take the new job if you're not truly interested and intend on moving on anyway. Just move on now.

I agree with others with testing the commute during rush hour. A half hour in the car is no big deal. An hour and a half is anothr story

It is my sense that commute tolerence differs very much from person-to-person. I would trust your intuition on this one.
