| Family of 6, including live-in nanny. We do 1-2 per day. I'd say average of 9 per week. |
Ugh, that's what it feels like! I think it's probably about 8-10 or so. Family of four, 2 kids. Dh works out most days, so he generates a fair bit, and the kids wear uniforms to school, so they often have two outfits a day. |
| 2-3 loads - one parent, one child. |
Me too. 2 kids. |

We are a family of 5. Elementary school kids who play sports, plus DH wears no iron shirts that we wash at home. We easily do 7-10 huge loads per week:
2 darks 2 lights Towels (I have a swimmer) 2 Sheets Kitchen -dish towels, placemats and napkins No iron shirts and pants (1 load every 10 days) And then there's the random stuff -- an extra 2 loads of sheets when everyone gets strep; winter coats once a month; entry way mats; extra guest towels; bathroom rugs every two weeks. A few years ago, my kids passed around the stomach bug for WEEKS. I did laundry constantly. In an effort to either cut down or come up with a schedule, I tracked every single load of laundry I did for an entire year. It really worked out to a load per day, with a few more loads in the winter months when clothes are just bulkier and we're wearing jackets. In the summer, the total number of loads decreased and we had more loads of towels than clothes. |

Family of 4 (one preschooler, one toddler). I do 7 loads a week, one daily.
The toddler makes a mess eating, produces stained clothing daily. Since I don't like to leave stained clothing beyond 24 hours, I end up doing laundry daily. But I am beginning to think maybe I should decrease it to 5 times a week. I will still do 2 loads during the weekends (due to towels, bedsheets). |
| Average one load per day. Clothes are separated by colors, not people. Master bedroom king sheets get done every other week and 2 sets of full size sheets for two kids' beds get done every other week. Towels are washed alone. |
Why |
| One giant load twice a month using wash and fold. Family of 3 (twin 8 year old boys). I HATE doing laundry. |
| When we had two kids living at home we did 4-6 loads a week. Fewer in summer than winter. One is in college now and we probably have dropped a load a week on average. Next year the next one goes and we will probably drop another load then too. I look forward to the bills related to our hot water usage dropping like a stone as the younger child takes really long showers every night. |
You must have a ton of clothes! |
Different PP, it really isn't that difficult and it saves on the harsh chemicals the dry cleaners use. |
I think this is our house sometimes, too. |
NP. I buy 60/40 cotton/poly dress shirts for DH. They are wash/dry/hang. I much prefer that to trips to the laundromat. He has a few super fancy dress shirts for semi-formal occasions and weddings, and I do get those dry cleaned, but thats a few times a year. |
| ^^don't know why I wrote laundromat. I meant dry cleaner. |
