Montgomery county. You can get a townhome that feeds into College Gardens or Beall ES, two very strong elementary schools that feed into an IB HS, Richard Montgomery.

You could also get into a small townhome or older condo in a Walter Johnson HS pyramid. Both communities have a large Jewish population.

Unless you got a chunk after leaving your ex, a home of over $500K would be hard to maintain on $80K. The furnace blows or the refrigerator dies or the roof needs to be repaired or there's a leak. yada yada

I'd go with a condo in SS. The commute isn't bad to Bethesda. You'll find synagogues and plenty of Jewish pals, I'm sure, and other super friendly/supportive folks. And the schools are diverse.
