I think you're right.. LCPS and Howard said they will re evaluate. I think it will be disrepectful if they do closed down and don't give us a head up

They do not always give a heads up. The heads up thing is relatively new.

FCPS facebook and twitter hashtags are blowing up- a lot of mad parents.

Yeah, they never give a head's up. keep in mind the buses are old and may not start in the cold weather.

Just checked that out. It is ridiculous. I recall a year or 2 ago when they did a delay rather than cancel and I saw kid after kid fall on the ice as I was driving to the kiss and ride. It was awful. There was black ice and even kids with boots had trouble.

I have not stopped hearing the wind - it's pretty bad. Forecast has always stated that this week will be very cold- tomorrow being the coldest day. I don't know if this was the right decision. We have tons of snow days built in - safety first.

What are the parents on Facebook angry about? Guess I'll go over and check.

I agree that with more than 10 built in snow days left, it's better to just close. Safety first and I suspect there will be lots of ice tomorrow. The thought of school buses traveling on those roads is scary to me.

I am in 22032 and all the side roads were dry when I left this morning - no issue there. But some of the sidewalks in my neighborhood did look super icy. That said, this is the type of situation when parents and caregivers need to let their kids know to 1) allow extra time to get where they're going and 2) dress appropriately, and 3) may need to walk in snowy/grassy areas if sidewalk looks wet because it's probably ice.

The kids will survive.
