Because you specifically asked about names that are easily pronounceable in both languages, I would recommend against Joaquin. It's a great name, but not easy. A Joaquin joined another team at work about six months ago, and people still BUTCHER his name. Young, old, male, female, black, white, brown - it is universally butchered. I think it's a great name and make a point to say his name correctly after someone messes it up, but often they mispronounce it the next time too. That said, I know a toddler Joaquin from my neighborhood, and none of the other neighborhood moms mispronounce it. Take that for what you will, but those are my experiences with Joaquin. I also think of it as more Portuguese/Brazilian, but maybe that's my misunderstanding. I like Sebastian, Santiago, Martin, and Julian (though be prepared to get the English "j" sound). |

| I don't speak a Spanish and I think Joaquin is easy enough to say. Everyone knows who Joaquin Phoenix is! These names may be off the list because relatives already have them, but I think Mateo, Tomas, Federico, Marco, Juan, and Alejandro are easy to say for English speakers. |

I'm married to Joaquin. People botch his name's spelling and pronunciation all. the. time. It's comical to look at receipts from places where they ask your name when you order.
We've gotten "Wakeen", "Wa-HEE", "Ja-QUAN", "Jah-QUINN", and so on. I love the name, though. |

| I am familiar with the name Joaquin and know how to spell it. I think many others are as well. Spelling it out is not a big deal- my name is Kimberly and I usually have to spell it out because many people don't know if it's -ley,-lee, etc. Similar with names like Catherine, Emily, etc. Not worth it to eliminate a name for this reason. |
