Type of eval before K?

Re: holding back an academically on target child. I have a child with an early fall birthday whom we held back because he did not have the social skills to handle being the youngest child. Now in mid elementary school, I wish I could hold him back again because his social skills fit in so much better with kids in the grade (or two grades!) below him.

This is OP. Thank you all for the responses! I will call Dr. Black's office and Paual Elitov on Monday to see what the timing is like. DC has come such a long way in the past 3 years, it will be good to have the eval done.
Similar to the PP, we held back a year due to language delays, anxiety and the resulting behaviors that would have made K really hard on DC and the family. And maturity plays a big part in being successful at school. Last year DC could only say a few rote sentences and the extra year has made a difference in communication, social awareness (maturity) and confidence. DC could read at 4yrs, but in school if you are academically at level but get so stressed out from all the language demands that you have a melt down, it's hard to be successful. The extra year was right for our family. As our development ped said to us- to hold back now than in 1st or 2nd grade.
