| Depends on the workplace. Very common for my company from the top all the way to the front line - people become very tight-knit here and are truly "like family." It's always couples or female/female, male/male though - never female/male singles. |
I know of a situation like this. Male boss, female colleague. They are close, platonic friends - they and their spouses hang out constantly outside of work, and the four of them vacation together as well. The female colleague also does "girls-only" vacations with the boss' wife and their other friends. |

Same in my office. It wouldn't even make me blink. |
| It's not professional. |
If they wanted the time sheets to be completely private then they wouldn't put them all in a binder in a public area of the office. They are in alphabetical order and the other employee's time sheet comes directly before mine. Anyway, I think some PPs are correct in that the preferential treatment bothers me more than them vacationing together, although I still think it's unprofessional. -OP |

I think you're conflating two things. what happens in their off hours is their business.
Preferential treatment in the office though is everyone's business. Don't focus on vacation, focus on the difference in treatment during office hours. you can only gossip about vacation. you might (if you have an HR department) be able o document preferential treatment. |
