My son is named Casey and he's 5. It was the only name that DH and I agreed on. We haven't had any issues with it so far. There was a girl Casey in his preschool class for a year but it was spelled differently. I've always thought of it as a boy's name that girls can also have, like Ryan or Elliott.
For the PP, my Casey actually does play baseball and there's a children's book based on the poem Casey at the Bat and my son LOVES reading it, especially the end. |
| ^^pp again. We actually know an adult male Casey whom we met after we had our son and the name fits him well too, so I don't think having it as an adult name is an issue. |
| Love it |
I'm married to one! He has to spell his name for people a lot and occasionally gets mail for Ms. Casey LastName, but other than that, it's a great name that suits him. Smart, creative, can't stand the Grateful Dead song

I've got a Casey (son). Hope he lives up to this! |
Um I think Casey Stengel would have had an issue with you on that! |
Mighty Casey did strike out. |
| I think most people will read it as a girl's name. Although I'm never sure if I'm a good judge as I used to teach at a girls school so a disproportionate percentage of the people I know are female. |

I know a 30 year old Casey. His Dad was a pro baseball player.
I like the name a lot, OP |
| Love it. And love it as a nickname for Charles - I'd never heard that before pp mentioned it. |
OP here. any other ideas for a name that Casey could go along with? I can't use Charles as other members in my family have used it, and I'm not super excited about Cassius.

I have a Casey (male). Goes with his very Irish last name. There's one other boy in his high school with the same first name, and we also know of another Casey who is a few years older. We love the name. It's classic and it's not overused. |
| I know an adult Casey and don't like it: it strikes me as too boyish and immature-sounding, unserious. |
| I really, really like it. It's on our list. |
| I like Casey for a boy but I do typically think of it as a girl's name (and only know girls named Casey). But if you are OK with this then go for it. |
