Ridiculous to buy snow boots 3 sizes ahead?

Bad idea. As they have grown older my kids, especially my son, will stay the same size for a year or so then skip 2 or so sizes practically overnight.

At what age do they typically skip 2 shoe sizes? I've never heard of this (that's not to say that it doesn't happen).

In three years there is little chance she will still like this color or boot. kids can skip a size any year their feet please.

They don't. ES age kids typically grow a half-size every 6 months or so. You might see a bigger jump after a growth spurt, just as you would in clothes, but it's not "typical." Well, unless you never buy your kid new shoes and they're just hopping around in too-small shoes for a year.

0P, don't waste your money. Are you trying to find ways just to throw money away? Lands' End always has really good sales and $30 for a pair of boots isn't so good. Plus there's always that chance that size 3 boots are never going to fit your kid during the correct season.
