Bumping up this post. Our kid is in pool and center school will be Hunters Woods. Would appreciate any inputs on Hunters Woods vs Waples mill.
We have a 5th grader at HW AAP. Class size is 32 kids. We do CYA for sports and under Hunters Woods, haven’t seen much enrollment for sports. We miss that aspect of having neighboring kids on our team sports. Overall, both are good schools and AAP might be a good fit for some kids and level 3 at Waples might work for some. Lot of siblings last year chose to stay at Waples.
We are also going to play it by the ear. My DC2 starts K this year at Waples and it will be good to DC1 based there as well. It will be hard to manage two different bus timings in morning/evening and it will be difficult to attend schools events for both. Overall, if there isn't much difference between the two schools, we might prefer to keep both at base for the sake of convenience. All kids on are street and neighboring streets go to Waples and not many are even aware that Hunters Woods is an option for them. Class sizes are Waples in 3-6 grades are much smaller comparatively.
Looking for feedback on Hunters Woods AAP.
Have had 2 children go thru HW AAP. They loved the school and the teachers. Like everything in ES it is very teacher dependent. They have some really great teachers in AAP and that makes all the difference. Our class size has ranged from 19-30 so just depends on luck there, but the principal tries hard to average @24. Most kids found eligible go in 3rd. Those who stayed at base bc they weren’t sure eventually made the move in 4th and even 5th bc they realized the environment would be better for their DC.
PP, thanks. If you move from base to Center in 4th or 5th grade, won’t the kids face lots of challenges?
Still debating if should choose HW. Any parents can share their AAP Hunters Woods experience?
Bumping up. Any recent feedback on Hunters Woods?
Any new feedback?
No. Figure it out yourself. |
That is not very nice.
PTA isn’t very active and activities are quite limited. This year, no odyssey of the mind team and very limited after school enrichment activities. If you have a choice, try to find a better AAP center. For sibling bonding and other reasons, I wish we had picked a center school. Not a lot of Waples kids move there and for sports we have barely had kids from same school in our CYA sports teams. Bus ride is really long from Oakton area. Lots of bullying on the bus.
