| The Costanzas have brought a loaf of marbled rye bread which, when it isn't served with the meal, Frank sneaks away when they leave. While George and his parents are in the car, his parents continue to complain about the Rosses https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Rye |
| When I attended my now-husband's family reunion, as his then-fiancee, a gaggle of his relatives didn't even say hello or how are you, they immediately just started rapid-fire asking me questions about my ancestry. They were updating ancestry.com in real time with my answers. |

Not me but my DH with my mom: DH's father died late December and in their religion every year they do a ceremony on the anniversary of the death. We go to my parents house for Christmas, and we were a day later getting there than we should've been. DH (who'd they'd only met once prior at that point) tells them that he is sorry we were late, as we were attending a religious function. Before he could elaborate my mom says "Yah, right, 'religious function'? What does that even mean?"
Silence. Followed by DH saying "On the anniversary of my father's death..." |
Missing bread pp- thanks for reminding me about this episode! lol, we did stop on the way home and get a loaf of the bread to bring to my parents as a way to smooth things over but it is still something my mom talks about sometimes- like "who does that?!" |

Not me but my mom.
My grandmother (Dad's Mom) was a very proper, repressed New Englander. One day when they were both in the galley kitchen of my parents' apartment, my mom bumped into her while they were prepping dinner. Mom apologizes and Gram says "It's ok dear. It's really a one ass kitchen, isn't it?" We use that phrase to this day. |
| The first time I met my MIL, she reached into the drawer of the table right by her chair (in the living room), took out a full nail kit that she stores in there, and started filing her nails. |
| We had out of town guests over after the wedding, and my SIL started filming food items and such in my refrigerator and kitchen she thought were embarrasing. It was...weird. |
One of my most awkward encounters was the moment MIL realized I didn't want her in the room with me, and threw a fit. |
Aw, I think this is a really sweet story, and that he is still speaks in amazement at getting to see the ultrasound really lets you know how touched he was by it. |

The most uncomfortable was when she called after we announced my pregnancy and went on and on about how wondrous it is that a man can ejaculate inside a woman's and it becomes a baby. I never want to hear her say ejaculate again!
Funniest is probably that she snuck out to get stoned during our wedding reception. |
I am totally stealing this. |
Lol!! Awkward! But sweet that he asked if he could help.

During delivery??? Or before? Why did she think she was entitled to be there and entitled to throw a fit?? |

I did a load of laundry at my ILs house and expected to be the one to collect it from the washer and move it to the dryer. But someone beat me to it. Instead of moving my undies (brightly colored hanky panky thongs) to the dryer as I usually do, the person carefully hung up each of my thongs on clips and knobs around the laundry room for them to air dry.
When I came and saw my undies on full display, I laughed and went to "thank" my MIL for hanging up my undies. She said with pride, "oh, no! That wasn't me! Your FIL did it!" |

I think I might win. The first 3 years DH and I dated, we were long distance. One of those summers, I drove up to meet him and his family at their summer cabin. Late in the afternoon, DH and I offered to grill dinner and the rest of the family went for a boat ride. Well we had a quickie after not seeing each other for 2 months (DH had his own bedroom there and everyone was gone anyway). Thought we cleaned up well and got to grilling. When they came in from the boat, now MIL remarks on how I got sunburned and am already peeling. She says "see right here!" and offers me aloe while picking a piece of her son's dried cum off my shoulder...
