| I LOVE the name Eamonn. Knew a guy in HS w/ that name. |
| Your list is similar to ours. Really similar. (We went with one name not on there: Owen.) Not surprisingly, I like Eamonn. |

As someone with an unusual name I can tell you that most people (including myself) won't know how to pronounce it and if they hear it, won't be able to spell it. Every year I had to correct every teacher, every time I heard my name called at the doctor's office I had to clarify they meant me. When I use my name it usually takes people a while to get it right and I often have to spell it out.
My mother had a common name in a year it was popular and she wanted me to have a unique name so that I wouldn't have to share my name with classmates. There are drawbacks both ways. If you like Eamonn, I say go with it, but yes, he will have to spend some time clarifying it. |
| Awful. Give your children names they are not ashamed of! |
| How do you pronounce it? |
| There are two Eamonns in my kid's grade in his public HS in VA and no one seems to have trouble pronouncing it. |
AY-min |
| For Irish boy names, I love Ronan, Rowan, or Callum. |
| I'm a second generation Irish-American and I love Eamonn! ( Also love the fish and chips place in Old Town) |
Callum is actually the Welsh spelling. In Irish, it's Colm. |
Otherwise it sounds like you are trying too hard to be cool and different. Just give the kid a normal name. |
So is it pronounced cal-luhm or calm? |
| I love it. |
| I would not have known how to pronounce it. Until I saw the pronunciation, I was thinking more like A-mon. More middle eastern sounding, I guess. It's not an awful name, but he will be correcting pronunciation and spelling his entire life. |
Plus 2 Aaron is my bro's name. Love it! Also, like Zachary. Have you considered Calum ? That is also a favorite of mine. |
