I really don't know what I can do for people like you, OP. She is two and we fly. That's how it is right now.

Well, you kind of suck. Please stay home or figure out a way to keep your kid from crying.

I've tried: snacks, drinks, stickers, new toys, crayons, songs, videos, having her nap, having her not nap etc. I live in Spain so we're not going to "stay home" with our extended family living in the states. Also, my kid crying means I suck? Interesting conclusion.

OP here....I get that people sometimes NEED to take long flights with little kids (funeral, visit family overseas, etc) but why would you take a little kid who you KNOW is awful on flights on a transatlantic flight if it's just for a vacation? Not saying that's the case here, but it blows my mind people are so inconsiderate. Your two year old won't appreciate Europe or wherever anyways.

Just stop it with this dumb argument. You don't know why the PP is traveling. She's clearly not one of those parents who blithely gets wasted while her kid freaks out. You don't have a right to a totally serene uninterrupted flight. You just don't. Get over yourself.

flying is not going to be a pleasant experience for anyone anymore. if you fly, suck it up and deal with it. (and bring headphones). there are rude and annoying people on every flight, and the annoying people are not limited screaming children/babies.

It's funny how you never hear anyone say, 'I hate it when there are screaming kids on my Greyhound bus trip!!!'

You're choosing public transportation. You are going to be interacting with the public. There are plenty of irritating thing about travelling. I have decided its worth it to get to x/y/z. You have to!

You are definitely one of those people who thinks everyone on a plane wants to hear their kid loudly read a picture book or some shit. Way too defensive.

We fly international a lot. My family is in UAE. There is always an inconsiderate mother who lets her child scream for too much of the flight. The passengers all the feel the same way, OP. It is obvious when a mother (or father) is at least trying. Some parents are just worthless.

My kid is almost 7, and in the many flights she's taken in her life, she's cried on exactly one of them and puked on exactly one other one. I understand that it's frustrating when there's a kid who cries on a plane, particularly if the kid's parents are not doing anything to try to prevent it, but the idea that "Your two year old won't appreciate Europe or wherever anyways" means that people should essentially not travel with young children is ridiculous. You don't need a reason to purchase a plane ticket. Neither do people who fly with their kids - to Europe on vacation or anywhere else. This is just one more way that people like to feel superior and hate on little kids. If I'm defensive, you're smug and nasty.

My kids fly in business or first class sometimes.

why are you complaining about this on a parenting forum? Go to Reddit or something.

Even if you have very well behaved kids, they can end up scraeaming or otherwise misbehaving on a plane. We've had direct flights cancelled and turn into day-long nightmares with connecting flights. And by the end, even my normally pleasant young travelers can lose it. I've encounter all kinds of less then nice adult travelers and my children aren't any worse, even at their worst. Flying can suck for anyone and can't we just be a little more kind to each other?

OP really needs to invest in noise canceling headphones. I never fly without them.

I agree - but this includes being a little more considerate of each other.
