For my 7 year old, we did plain blank journals and had them decorate them. We had all sorts of things to decorate them with. They took the journals home as their swag.
For 6 year old party we did a lotion thing that they got to scent. There are also soap making kits that she has done on other occassions. |

Fuse beads? DD and her friends love them!
You'd just have to be prepared to iron them before the girls go home. http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3721488&gclid=CKPE6IW6mtECFYS1wAodPkEPjg&camp=PLAPPCG-_-PID6464998:TRUS&cagpspn=plat_6464998&eESource=CAPLA_DF:3721488:TRUS (Less expensive at Michaels with a 40% off phone coupon.) |

We did a party where the girls decorated their own mugs. I bought plain, white ceramic mugs from Target. Then we used oil-base sharpies (markers) to decorate the outside. You have to bake the mugs for an hour in the oven to set the art, but it was fun.
I could also see how it would be fun to paint large wooden letters in the first initial of each girl's name. You could paint them, eat cake while it dries, then come back to glue on glitter, rhinestones, feathers, etc. |
| Notebooks or journals (someone mentioned this) are easy and fun. Decorating plain canvas coin purses can be fun too--fabric markers, rhinestones and fabric glue, etc. Another one would be having them decorate plain takeout boxes and letting them fill them with favors of their choice. |

Whatever project you choose, here are some tips:
--give parents a heads up there will be crafting so the guests can wear clothes that can get a little paint on them --invest in those dollar store plastic table cloths and drape them everywhere, even in layers. Pull off and discard. --Put paint and glue in disposable Dixie cups for easy clean up. --Lots of sharpies around to write names on the projects. Could even write their name on the back (canvas) or bottom (mug) before they arrive so there no confusion. |
