Many private schools don't have the resources to deal with outliers at either end of the distribution. Some do, and OP will need to ask around to find them. I'm not sure 2 years ahead is really an outlier in this region with so many educated families. If OP is really concerned that her DC is on the upper tail, then public may be the answer unless her child can win acceptance to one of the very top private schools, which I believe have more capacity. FWIW, I believe Virginia's AAP program takes the top 20%, and Maryland magnet programs take a much smaller percentage, something like 2-3% by high school. |
