Inauguration day

Between MLK holiday and Inauguration Day, it makes for a great ski week. 2017 will be our family's 4th celebration of our nation's democracy and peaceful transfer of power from Snowbird, Utah.

Federal government is closed for folks who work in DC, Arlington, FC City, Alexandria City, MoCo, PG county. Ditto all the public schools in these jurisdictions. Traffic snarls, metro delays, road closures, plus insane security. If your kid walks to school-- great. But lots of kids bus (some, like my kid, down 66 and 495 from Western Fairfax to TJ. Some kids in our neighborhood also have to take 66 to Oakton HS. Quite a few kids also bus on 95, 395, 495, etc). Lots of faculty and staff don'5 live right near their school either.

It's in everyone's best interest to get as much traffic off the roads as possible for the Innaguration. It's not a Republican thing or a Democrat thing. It's a common sense thing. Suck it up. It is one day every 4 years-- or three school days total for most kids, grades 1-12.

And no-- Loudoun, PW County, etc. are not close in.

It is not even every four years. If it is on the weekend, schools don't have an extra day off.

PW is closed (for some reason), Loudoun is not.

PW wasn't closed when the calendar was released. The decision to close was just made in the last few days. Hmmm... I wonder why PW chose not to close until after Trump was elected? Thinking... thinking... I'm sure it will come to me. In other news, it's great to see PW County living down to it's reputation.
