I haven't linked to all of her threads, but several are about being a bored stay at home mom. So, I guess DCUM is her entertainment. I locked the threads to which I've linked. Personally, I think it is more fun to leave them open and tease the OP. But, I've yielded to popular sentiment. I'm thinking about whether to block the OP or just track her future posts. When all is said and done, she has been pretty harmless and other than reinforcing negative stereotypes of Middle Easterners and South Asians, she has been fairly benign. |

Well done Jeff.....I guess you got a lot of reports about that being a troll, which multiple people theorized.
Block the OP, granted, it would be a temporary fix, but maybe that person will learn a lesson. |
As long as they are harmless then I would vote to keep them open. They are entertaining and good for a laugh. |
+1 I'm glad for the action against the trolls too. Folks shouldn't be rewarded for pulling everyone's leg. When I thought it was real, the post about being blackmailed by her ex had made me feel sorry for the poster! |
| This is totally nuts...who would do this??? |
| Yea, I feel like an idiot when I put thought and care into crafting a response to a poster that I think is dealing with a serious issue, only to find out it's a story-making troll. Makes me hesitate from caring the next time. |
| Fake news on DCUM. Whodathunk? |
| This is probably way too much work, but it would be nice if there could be a banner or color change in the threads started by people you've identified as known trolls, or maybe a post saying as much. I think some people enjoy the debate regardless of whether it's fake or not, but others spend a lot of time thinking about careful answers thinking that the situation is real. I agree with not locking them but it would be good for people to know that the person they're responding to is fake and nobody is really actually in that situation. |
