This is the OP again. Thank you so much to everyone who provided insight. To answer a PP's question about how long this has been going on, I'd say he's always been prone to interrupting. I'd say the temper outbursts and major negativity started around 6 or 7, but fairly infrequent. The repetitive motions are within the last year. But everything is escalating and becoming more frequent.
He is now waitlisted for a neuropsych assessment at KKI. When I was scheduling it with the intake coordinator, she suggested we may be interested in other KKI services while we wait- so I also have an appt scheduled with their Behavior Psychology office in about two weeks. But now I am wondering about that Behavior Psychology appt. I need to call and discuss further, but I am thinking that would be a series of appts? We are quite a distance (NOVA) from Baltimore and I am wondering if I should seek these types of services closer to home. Any thoughts? Through info in this thread and searches in this forum, I am thinking to explore services at Exceptional Children's Center (Springfield), Good Beginings (Falls Church), and The Women's Center (Vienna). Seems like social skills group or OT might be helpful for him? Thoughts on services at these facilities based on what I described? Should I keep that spot with KKI Behavioral Psychology office? We have BCBS federal basic insurance. Thanks again for taking the time to read and help us navigate. |
