Op here.
Most of the kids he knows (he kind of has gotten to know the kids in the area who are being recruited) have football skills but are also really good students. Like really good. My son's grades are pretty high- he has like a 3.8 but a lot of these kids gpa's are higher than his. So stressful--recruiting throws so many variables into the mix. Can't wait till this is over. |
Me too. It's stressful and so many unspoken rules. Good luck in the process, it takes a lot of hard work and dedication to be a student athlete. |
Different poster who also has a child just starting the recruiting process. It is stressful and confusing, but don't lose sight of what a wonderful positive it is. My older child has a perfect SAT and close to perfect grades in rigorous classes, but is not applying to many ivys or other top schools because she realizes the chances of admission are very low coming from this area with no hooks. The great athletes who have also been able to do well in school and tests have so many good options to choose from. It does feel in some ways like there is more of a payoff for all the hard work they put in. |
