Tell me about boys' gymnastics and dance

My son does breakdancing with "The Lab DC" located in Takoma Park, MD. The vast majority of students are boys, although there are a handful of girls in each class. The teachers are also mostly boys. It is really fun and active for kids who love to dance but are not really into ballet.

Ballet Nova is grant for boys. My son is there, and there are plenty of other boys around. He loves dance but was refusing to take more classes unless there were more boys in the classes. The boys we've met there are very sporty and active--lots of normal goofing around and silliness.

The Washington Ballet has an excellent Boys program. Truly.

My son does gymnastics and it's terrific at Dynamite Gymnastics in Rockville. There might be something closer to you but maybe not. He's on the TNT team - trampoline and there are lots of other boys and he loves it. It's coed and my son never talks about being a boy in a girl sport - it's truly coed.


There are also all boys teams at Preston in Gaithersburg but that's really far for you. It might help to go look there though so he can see boys competing.

Most gyms have boys participating in regular classes until you get good enough to make the teams.
