Refinishing 1960s oak flooring - what is most timeless floor color?

Red oak will show more grain than in your photo—at least the red oak we just installed does. We used walnut and there is more variability in color than your photo.

We did Aged Barrel on our red oak floors and it hid the red/orangey color pretty well. And a matte finish. It looks pretty close to this. We’re really happy with it. It’s not too dark that it shows every fleck of lint.

We did ours light like this and we love it - I think it’s very timeless though perhaps more a European vibe
