Easy. Announce well in advance you want to have destination holidays like when your were a kid, you will let them know where, and they are welcome to join.
Or just go somewhere like national harbor.

For the past three years my family has made it an annual vacation -

We went to Biltmore Estates first (great Turkey Day meal options in downtown Asheville!), then we went to Savannah, GA to see the coast, and this year we went to New Orleans and enjoyed the French Quarter. Really fun.
