These are all great but a bit narrowly white-focused. If you are disheartened by the current time, don't also isolate yourself in your watching, viewing, etc.
Movies: Friday (a classic in my mind), Waiting to Exhale, Monsoon Wedding, Bend if Like Beckham Books - I'd turn to re-reading some classics in the Austen, Dickens - maybe Gatsby, A Confederacy of Dunces, My Antonia, something Zadie Smith. |

How I Met Your Mother
Gilmore Girls Life in Pieces (funniest sit-com in years, perhaps ever - the TG episode had me in tears) Movies: About Time Books: A Man Called Ove Bossypants - Tina Fey Let's Pretend this Never Happened - Jenny Lawson |
Some of them are incredibly sad and difficult to watch, but they all redeem themselves at the end. But the sad parts are sad. Now that I'm a mother I can't watch it at all. Give me some Friday night lights, though.

Born this Way Jane the Virgin Can't think of a recent heartwarming movie, but I'm wanting to see Arrival. It's getting real really good reviews. |
