Actually the few times the proletariat did try they ended up with even worse condition than they were trying to escape.

Typically, Revolutions are led by the intelligent class who use the proletariat as foot soldiers.

The Soviets called this the Vanguard. Leave it to the Russians to turn communism into an oligarchy! (I love Russia, actually. It's one of my favorite places and my favorite groups of people. But self-governance was never their strong suit.)
