If you're going to do this commute, I would make sure that the preschool has such outstanding care that you think it is absolutely worth it. Besides the hassle factor, you should consider that playdates with other kids will be harder. In addition, and perhaps more important, your child will be meeting and becoming friends with others in the preschool. It would be nice if these kids were going to attend the same elementary school as your child, so that the start of kindergarten wouldn't be so stressful. That's another reason why people like to stick close to home for preschool.
I had my child in a preschool last year that was a bit of a hike, but still reasonable. However, I began to notice that other people were doing playdates more frequently when they lived closer together (and we were frozen out of that), and they mentioned being excited that their kids would attend the same elementary school. Of course, there's no guarantee that the kids will be in the same class in elementary school, but there is still the perception that having friends at the same school might make the transition easier for your child.
