This is so good to hear. What about Terra Centre do you like? Are the families friendly and down to earth? |
| I graduated from Lake Braddock many moons ago. My kids aren't going to FCPS as a result of my experience there and my husband's experience at the FCPS that he attended. |
Why, specifically? OP, I wouldn't put too much stock in this one anecdote. I also went through FCPS and will happily send my kids in a few years. |
| Lake Braddock and Robinson are both great. |
| I went to LB about 25 years ago. Had a wonderful experience. It's a great school. I had friends at Robinson and think it is good too. There will always be people saying a particular school was terrible. They would have likely found high school difficult no matter where they attended. |

Several Neighbors have kids at robinson and they seem very happy with it. We moved to the Terra Centre zone this summer and love it so far. Nice feel to the burke Centre area and are still amazed at how walkable a lot is and how convenient everything else is. About the only main drive is for Saturday entertainment and even that is 15-20 minutes away so not far. Everything else from sports to libraries to grocery to coffe to Target is like 5-10 minutes. Wonderful! This is so good to hear. What about Terra Centre do you like? Are the families friendly and down to earth?" Super great K teacher with a full time assistant despite the class having only 21 kids. Nice building now that it is newly redone. The families I have met so far seem very nice. This is one of my crazy times of year so I have only met a ew parents so far and not gotten very PTA involved yet but the vibe so far has been good when I have been at anything. Lots of stuff going on to help make school fun (spirit weeks) but NOT tons that requires parents to come mid day so far nor too much home project craziness. Stuff is more like "wear mismatch on weds!" School also seems to have a very open policy re: volunteers or coming to have lunch with your kid. |
| My kids go to Robinson and love it. They have great after school clubs and programs. Something for everyone. The staff is wonderful and so are the parents. |

One loved it and one hated it so went private. I saw the pros and cons. Yes, very big and all that " something for everyone " but it's not magic as the sheer size makes EVERYTHING a competition.
For one DC, smaller was better and they could indeed participate and there was " something for everyone." Many great teachers and staff/ administration really do care. But the size makes it such a bureaucratic hassle for simple things. Hopefully your kids will love it. |
I've never heard of anyone calling Robinson "Robo" before. But it's been a while since dh graduated from that school. I'm a LBSS grad. Both are really good schools. |
NP here. This is what makes me nervous about sending my kids to Robinson. Friends of ours just relocated outside of this area. They had a son at Robinson who was really into art, but could never get into an art class because they were always full. |
