Good Girls Revolt

Just finished the first season and loved it! I wasn't sure after the first episode, but it really grew on me. I really liked seeing the growth in all the characters, especially Jane and Cyndi.

Hoping for a season 2!

Just binged 4 episodes. Really good.

I just want to see how they all turn out, and how they get there. I thought the end of 1 and end of 4 were demonstrative of the risk they were taking. Bosses are ready to fire anyone. Loved that twist in the last 3 minutes of ep. 1.

Ok guys. I finished it today. That was fast!

When is an acceptable time to talk about all episodes? I won't spoil it if ppl are still watching.

I liked it, too.
This is based on Eleanor Holmes Norton's ACLU background and a real case with Newsweek.

All I keep thinking watching this season is that I've always like EHN, but she isn't as tall as the actress portraying her!
I guess they wanted a physically dominant personality to match the character.

PP here.
And I love that little guy that plays Doug. He was in Good Wife and It's Complicated and I've loved him ever since!
I'm sure he's younger than me, but he's cute as a button.

JUST started watching this show last night - omg - so good (if more than a little blood-boiling) - only got to watch the pilot last night, but can't wait to binge watch...

NP. Just finished the series. So good!

Pissed as hell, though, that it was cancelled by an all male board at Amazon so there'll be no season 2. Apparently, Roy Price, head of Amazon Video, just didnt like the show and never watched any of it. It had great reviews by viewers and critics, and the company that collects streaming data (Symphony) said it was Amazon's best series to open among 18-49 female demographic.

Anonymous wrote:Random question. What nationality is Finn's wife supposed to be, with the name Natalia?

In Episode 4, she asks "Remember our old place by the Indian restaurant?"

And Finn says: "and getting into a shouting match in Hindi with the owner? He's just jealous because he can't have you."

She looks like she could pass for Indian to me, but her accent isn't, nor is her character name. Any thoughts?

Her name is Talia which can be Greek or Indian or Hebrew.

Talia isn't an Indian name.

That's interesting. Maybe another company will be able to pick it up?

Anonymous wrote:Im on episdoe 8 now and really into it. In the beginning I thought it was trying too hard in the beginning with the late 60s stereotypes (i.e. the "good girl" waiting for marriage, the hippie "slut" girl etc). but its become much more nuanced. I like the lead girl who plays Pattie but find her really odd to look at when they show her full length. She is painfully skinny and her head looks like a giant lollipop.

I felt that way too, about the "types," but I like how the characters have become more nuanced as we get to know them.

I also thought that Talia was meant to be an American-born Indian, because of the reference to her having an argument with the restaurant owner in Hindi and her lack of accent.

That would be awesome! The fact that Roy Price doesn't value female viewers doesn't mean that no one else will!

They tried. There was a deadline that passed. I think it was Dec 31, when the options on the contracts with actors expired. Sounds like they only had a couple of weeks to find another network. It was produced at Sony, and I wish they would have kept it themselves to air on Starz. They've already built an audience with that demo with Outlander.

This is completely nit-picking, but at the end of episode 2, Patti is carrying a lamp in the pouring rain, then plugs it in at home--of course, it's completely dry.

I know the writers are trying to be deep by symbolizing light into darkness and having a lightbulb moment as she looks thoughtfully at the business card for Eleanor Holmes Norton by the glow of the lamp. But come on. In reality, not only would rain ruin the lamp shade, the whole thing would be soaking wet, so either the lamp would have shorted and not worked or she would have electrocuted herself when turning it on.

I wish the writers would pick between cliches and cheesy symbolism--have a break up scene in the rain or the lamp. Talk about having your cake and eating it too.
