This. I believe you know what we mean, even if it is not the manufacturer's technical definition. I would favor mandatory confiscation but see that as a political non-starter. I would favor conditional grandfathering AND allow for one of those buy back/turn in programs (guns for cash or whatever). These weapons have ZERO place in society. |

Honestly, I do not know enough about guns to speak about gun control with confidence.
I do believe that some legislation is needed based on what I do know, which is that the US has the highest rates of gun deaths in the industrialized world, and that other nations with stricter gun laws have much lower rates of death and injury from guns. |

How is it that a plain old hunting rifle is okay but becomes an illegitimate weapon of war when it has cosmetic features added such as a folding stock, flash suppressor, and a bipod? Same caliber, same effective range and killing power,...but one looks scary and the other doesn't.
What some more of y'all might want to admit to yourself is that you know nothing about guns OR hunting. You are irrational, uneducated, and more than anything unprepared. |
You are confusing the weapon with the person. The goal is to put weapons into as few hands as possible. Hunters are usually responsible folk and they would need to prove they can shoot and prove they're of sound mind before owning a gun. Hunting, while a blood sport most people aren't fond of, is a traditional bastion I wouldn't want to mess with. Hunting humans is not allowed. Most of us should not own guns of any kind. |

AR15 is not an assault weapon.
LOVE the idea of limiting magazine sizes. No reason for them to exist in this nation. As for ban, relinquish, confiscate. Outlaw them, give a time for them to be redeemed over a reasonable amount of time then enforcement for those found in possession. |
Then he is SOL on deductions. |
