Our kids love animals and SeaWorld. We did both the dolphin and sting ray feedings. There is a cute kid ride area. Great time.

Every Saturday morning there's a tv show called something like Animal Rescue, and it focuses on the amazing work of Sea World San Diego and the animals they rescue, treat, and typically release (they keep the ones who aren't equipped to survive in the ocean). They provide a truly critical service to marine life, and I do not believe they mistreat the animals in their care.

If you read about Dolphins, you know that they are extremely smart and social. They truly enjoy interacting with people. Sadly, the Baltimore aquarium recently ended their dolphin educational programs. Now you just see them swimming around or hanging out. Dirty little secret: while they ended the public educational programs (to appease the misguided critics), they most certainly did not end their training and interactions. How could they? How cruel would it be to stop engaging them and playing with them? They now do it after hours. So, what's the point?

I know it might be inconvenient for Orlando vacation planning, but if your kids really love animals maybe the right thing to do is skip the attraction that enslaves and tortures intelligent animals for profit. Just because other people are selfish and entitled enough to keep going doesn't mean you have to be.
