So if I ever decide to run 4 president foolish things I may have done/said back in HS are fair game?

Romney was a stupid high schooler, emphasis on stooopid.

Trump was 60 years old. Emphasis on 60!

Really? I'm pretty sure that this was ALL OVER the press.

If you are running as a republican, yes. But if you are running as a democrat, what you have done and said in formal settings will be ignored if they make you look bad.

Yes it is. While in daily life it is accepted that people evolve over a lifetime, in politics no.

Right. Because the thing about the Clintons is, no one pays attention to what they have done and said.

Right. This Democrat didn't vote for Romney in 2008 on policy grounds alone. None of this bullcrap about his childhood boarding school antics, religion, 47%, etc mattered a whit to me. All politicians say and do stupid things, and priveleged kids do stupid things in their youth. Didn't changed the fact that I think Romney is an inherently decent man with whom I happen to disagree on policy. If he had been elected, I would have been okay with it b/c he is well-educated, well-spoken, and decent. You literally can't say any of this about Trump except maybe education, but I don't think he actually learned anything at Penn or Harvard other than how to screw people over to get rich.

That's pretty much Carolyn Hax's entire premise for her advy. People don't change. Accept them as they are or move on.]

Trump went to Wharton, last two years. He couldn't get in on his own, so his daddy had to pull some strings for him to get in. He was a terrible student, and lied that he had graduated top of his class, like he lied about Melania having a degree. He may have been born with a silver spoon in his mouth, but he comes across as one of those nouveau riche who is desperate to be accepted so he makes up stuff about himself to make him look good. Pardon the slight on the nouveau riche.

I remember hearing about Obama's weed use ad nauseam

And cocaine use. We do forgive high school transgressions.

And Bill Clinton's - did he inhale?

But, yea, agree with PPs... we are talking about young adult/teens' behavior and antics vs. a 60 yr old grown man, with a pregnant wife. So not the same thing.

Also, those antics of Romney's didn't include sexually assaulting someone, or even talking about it. I'm sure if it did, he wouldn't have made it as far as he did.

Oh please! Do you have any idea how many people DID inhale in college and liked it? Probably your parents.

^ But weed is legal now.

Umm kind of; it's happened to almost every President that has ran in the modern age.

Precisely.
