Travel Soccer Age Question

The age group is based on the age of the player in the year in which the season ends. For Fall to Spring leagues (pretty much everything) that means the season ends in 2017. Your son will be 13 in part of 2017, so he is "Under 14".

Just the way they did it -- it really doesn't matter because everyone else's son (or daughter) is under the same age group rules. He'd be with the same players if they called it "U13".
