Yup, grew up in Santa Barbara. Went to the beach all summer. September/October is the best for warmer water. Wore a wetsuit as a kid the rest of the time.

My kids swam in the ocean in Santa Monica and had a blast.

Thanks, PP! The aquarium is actually not that far from where we're staying, but we've never been and it looks fun. For Universal Studios, do you mean the studio tour or the park?

We did both (both are included in the ticket). We did the Studio Tour right when they opened, then the rest of the park for the remainder of the day. If you are going on a weekend or during a peak time, it might be worth purchasing Front of Line tickets.
