lollipop for 3 month old

My sister in law(19) is always posting pictures of her 3 months old eating Popsicle, cheese puffs, milk shakes. But isn't allowing a 3 month old to hold and suck on a lollipop a huge chocking hazard?!? Am I overreacting here?

Of course eating lollipops, milkshakes and the like are something you don't give 3 month olds. So, yes, your SIL is putting her child at risk. But, of course, you know this.

It's probably a joke as stress relief. My mom post my baby with a tiny airplane bottle of Jack Daniels. Sealed. Cabin fever can make you do wacky shit. The trick is in how to keep it together enough not to post.

19 is not a "Teen" Mom.

@18 we are all legal adults.

You missed the part where OP's SIL is giving these things to the baby, not just posing.

So you know you'll have custody in a few months or years, OP.

That's a tough one. I think you'd have had a better shot at getting her to listen about the choking hazards (a more immediate and serious danger) if you hadn't already talked about how her gut isn't ready, which is a comparatively minor concern. I'm with you on not feeding solids at that age, but that seems to me like a MYOB situation. I would try to save the unsolicited advice for the really dangerous situations in the future.

Um... Did you miss the second part of the number nineTEEN?

She may be a legal adult, but she is still a teenager.

Is there ANY chance at all that she is just POSING the baby with these things? For laughs? I mean, my DH posed our kid (sleeping infant) with the tv remote. Just for giggles. It made me giggle when i saw the picture. But he is way older than 19 and didn't post it to fb, so..."

19 is absolutely a teen.

Some teens are legal adults, but between your thirteenth birthday and your twentieth you are a teen, and if you become a mom during that time you are a teen mom.

Can you ask your husband's mom to talk with her? Sounds like it might be something that would come from a grandparent better than from you. I agree that a choking hazard is a different concern from "gut isn't ready yet." Of course, I also think the risk is probably pretty low in this case, as the baby has no teeth and probably isn't actually eating the whole lollipop or anything else for that matter.
