Hey, crabby. No rules against you starting your own book club thread with a different title.

BEST BOOK of AUGUST by Amazon -- literally. It is an objectively good book.

I just looked on Amazon, it gets 3.5 stars. Lots of folks saying to skip it. I'll join next book club!

It turned out to be my least favorite of Moriarty's novels, but I'll join the discussion.

I liked What Alice Forgot and Big Little Lies much more.

OP here! Looks like we have a book club going! I apologize if the book choice wasn't to everyone's liking. I tried to choose a book that was newish and not too complicated to find in any bookstore/Target. I thought it was easier that I go ahead and start so there wasn't a lot of confusion choosing a book and start date. It's an anonymous board after all!

OP again! The method for choosing the next book will probably be (if it's okay with everyone):

When the discussion is wrapping up from the current book, I will post a list of three possible choices for the next book selection. You will simply vote for the book that is most interesting to you and we'll see how that works out!

So I liked this book but not quite as much as her other ones. I wondered though if that was a subject matter thing. I have experienced like, difficult female friendships and infertility issues and deaths of immediate relatives but I've never had a really hard issue in my marriage like this so I think the other books hit me harder.

That said I thought the whole scene at the fountain was profoundly moving and the way it rippled across the relationships was really well done. I thought neighbor Harry could have been cut, I'm not sure what he really did for the plot.

Erica's relationship with her mother was probably the most effecting part of the book for me as I have a really difficult mother myself and that push and pull with a difficult parent was described really well.

I suggest doing the voting using SurveyMonkey. Much easier to tally and would reduce the not related comments.

I'm actually coincidentally reading this now so I'll join in the discussion. I actually thought thought the first half was really interestingly done - how you didn't really know what happened. I'm about 75% of the way through now.

I just read it!

While I would LOVE to be part of a book club (great idea btw to OP!!), I typically cannot afford to purchase books when they first come out in hardcover.
