Everybody who claims to care about residency fraud - who will testify at 1pm today?

on the plus side, if DC paystubs are good for residency then we will get PG County families in DCPS with at least one employed parent.

They can and will read every comment - they are required by Federal law. They must summarize and respond to all comments when they publish the NPR. There will be another open comment period after the NPR is published.

Thanks for the post. One thing I noted in the accompanying memo -- it states multiple times that residency requirements in DC are similar to other nearby jurisdictions. But, looking at the comparison table in the memo, DC is the only jurisdiction that allows a paystub as the sole form of proof of residency. Looks like Fairfax is the only other locality that allows it, and only if accompanied by two other types of evidence. That might be a useful comment on the rule.

This is not true of all public and/or public charter schools in DC. If you tried to get away with using just a paystub at our HRC, they will turn you away even though you've been attending (and have not moved) for 7 years.

Every charter in DC is its own LEA (Local Education Authority). Some are apparently stricter than others. Then there are the horror stories about DCPS which apparently doesn't require much of anything and even then has an "escape hatch" for Marylanders who work for OSSE.

A shortage of PS/PK spots doesn't affect my family, but I sure do see a lot of b*tching and moaning about it on DCUM. Unless you actually attending the hearing (or at the very damn least take some time in the next calendar month!!) to type out your testimony and send it to OSSE, then foreverafter you should STFU.

MOCO and Arlington only requires a rental lease agreement or property tax bill.

Don't know if this is true but supposedly some police chief got in trouble recently for residency fraud.

I'm planning to send in written comments along with photos of Maryland kids and cars at our local DC school.

I wish they would share around names of families that couldn't prove residency; I think some of these families are just moving around school to school, year by year.
