Sandy Springs Friends should be on your list. I'm a product of a Quaker school and they are hardly religious in the sense of Catholic or even Episcopalian schools. Do check i tout.

I agree with the Sandy Spring Friends recommendations. My DCs attended and we all loved the school. They just teach kindness, respect, being non-judgmental, discussion vs. yelling, listening, not to be afraid to share your feelings, service to others and service to the environment. They also believe that an education is well rounded - academics, arts, and athletes.

Because Quakers aren't Christians??? Guess again. |
How well do you know Quakers?

| Lowell is a great private school option that is not religious and is located very close to Silver Spring. You should check it out. |
We left Catholic school for SSFS and have been very, very pleased. We became particularly concerned about the Catholic school environment when our child got to the middle school grades. We found the sex education curriculum even more alarming than the mandatory religion classes. Quakers are very welcoming to ALL religions (and it's okay to identify as atheist there as well). |
| We are interested in SSFS for high school and live in the same general area as OP. Our child has been in test in magnets for both elementary and middle school. Any thoughts on the academic challenge available at SSFS? The reason we are considering is because we don't think that public school is a good fit for this particular child, not against Einstein in general. |
| We are parents at Grace. We are not Christian. The religious aspects are very minimal and we're fine with the weekly chapel. Chapel is once a week and there is no religious curriculum in the classroom. They blend in concepts of being a good person and a kind person. It is a great school environment; you should visit and decide for yourself. There are kids at Grace with SNs. It may depend on what your child's needs are but they try hard to accommodate lots of differences. It is a very nice community. |
| Another vote for Grace. Someone is giving you bad information. |
