Make 'em stand?

I care deeply about this issue, but if you are going to complain OP, talk about the NFL players and rape. That is what you should be outraged about. Not whether a player stands. Give me a break.

Exactly.

Give them a pass when they rape people. Give them a pass when they are wife beaters. Give them a pass when they are accessories to murder.

Lose our shit and demand blood when they take a knee during a song.

^^^Oh, I forgot about child abusers and even animal abusers.

I despise the message that this clown is making, but I believe in freedom of speech and support his exercise of this fundamental right.

Remember, you can make your feelings about him known through your own free choice as well. Let the team and organization know that his ideas about what the flag/anthem of the US stands for reflects negatively on everyone else. Don't pay money to go see a game where this guy is playing.

It's like forcing a country into becoming a democracy.

That's not how any of this works...

I love how the people bitching about are probably sitting on their couch during the anthem. Or texting.

This isn't North Korea: if you don't want to stand during the anthem, and you think it's going to fix whatever troubles you, than good luck with that. Stop shaming everyone who doesn't share your opinion.

Do you really take off your hat, put down your Bud Light and get up from your couch when it's played on TV? What about if your having dinner in a restaurant where the game in being broadcast? Do you pull over to the shoulder if you're listening to the game on the radio?

Agree 100%. I get that there are some delicates out there offended by this sort of thing. I'd suggest finding a hobby and a way of improving the country for all - which is kind of the point of the protests- rather than pay lip service to what this country is supposed to stand for (and sometimes fails).

The laws of a business are not above the laws of a country . You must've graduated from Trump university .

And you must not have graduated high school.

Probably but it's safe to say I'm smarter than you in this issue . You made an ass of yourself by insinuating that employers could all of a sudden circumvent federal law to appease your overweight hurt feelings . Sit tight Mr deplorable , your shitty anthem and flag I wipe my ass with it .

Initially, I evaluated Kaepernick's act and was disappointed (to say the least), but now I see all the backlash over his choice to peacefully protest, and....I can't believe I'm saying this, but I now see him as a sympathetic figure: if he were to stand, it would be SUCH a hollow gesture. I hope he stands his ground--not because I support his message, but because I support his right to sit, stand, whatever he chooses. Doesn't impact my ability to proudly salute my country.

This. Was just reading my uncle's Facebook post about how he can't express his political views at work, blah blah, and that he's now "done" with the NFL. Given his political leanings, his opinion on this issue doesn't surprise me, but I was like really?! THIS is why you've decided to abandon your beloved Giants?

I highly doubt there is a clause in the players' contracts that dictates they stand during the anthem.
