Dickinson is pulling a very different kind of kid these days. The students who've gone over the past couple of years from our kids' independent school are more academic with broader interests -- more theater types, more kids who've done a lot of community service (well beyond what's required).

You're not going Davidson to find average or slightly-above average students at Davidson -- it's more selective than that.

Lots of Landon grads at Davidson. UVA, Davidson and Penn have been top destinations.

??? Do you have a family member who attended Davidson? It's highly academic and always has been.

Davidson is nothing like Landon. W&L is quite like it.

Agree - Southern preppy with a touch of crunch, but not heavy on lax bros.

I agree. My academic theatre girl with over 1000 hours of community service loved Dickinson when she visited. She is a good candidate for merit money too so we are happy if she ends up there!

USNWR has Davidson at #9 and W&L at #11, so they're pretty much on par, though very different cultures.

And Forbes has has Davidson nationally at #25 and W&L at #28. I think those are the two major rankings, and they both have Davidson ahead of W&L. So, how does W&L routinely outrank Davidson? In any event, the cultures are, indeed, very different.
