Current Market salary range for Government Affairs professionals (in house)

Anonymous
I had a govt affairs job at huge US firm; no govt experience at the time but PhD and some international experience. I initially worked at HQ elsewhere but got moved to DC where my salary was adjusted for COL. I left 12 years ago making around $165k if I remember correctly. The company was not known for high pay; the real money was in the bonuses / options / pensions / etc.

So I'd be stunned if someone with some relevant Hill or exec branch experience isn't making at least 6 figures doing government affairs at any kind of decent sized corporation.

i know for a fact it isn't that low because i know 'analysts' at one of the firms mentioned in the first post and that's not what they get paid.

it might be 40k for a smaller company but not a blue chip publically traded f100 company

Okay. How much is it?

60k base + 5-10% bonus, limited prior hill experience, 0-2 experience.

165k when you left, what did you start at?

The range is huge. I have been in the field for 20 plus years and my peers in-house make anything from 180k to 300k (plus bonus and stock options). For a newby my guess is that $80k is about right.
