Please tell me you have not copyrighted this phrase - I love it. So true! I too believe life begins at conception. I didn't always - probably not until I became a mom-to-be myself and felt that first thrill at the sonogram pic. However, I don't believe inflamatory language and not listening to others helps convince others to share your POV. I prefer persuasion, abetted by my personal convictions. |
The phrase just popped into my head. After your comment I googled it, thinking I may have seen it somewhere. I couldn't find it, so maybe it's really mine. But I'm happy to share it. For a moment I thought I'd suggest we use "MB" as a reminder to posters on here when we think they are engaging in it, but as a DC resident with three MB's on my City Council, I guess that's a bad idea. |
Oops. I guess I'm a bit dyslexic. Not sure how I got MB for masturbatory debate -- maybe I was taking de Bait. But MD would be more confusing than MB. |
I support choice, but I don't see how anyone could possibly condone a late term abortion (and I consider anything after 15 weeks late term). I can see if there is a severe medical problem with the baby that will cause a miserable life, or a danger to mom, but anything outside of that is just really not defensible. How LONG must one take to make up their minds about if they want an abortion or not?
At the end of the day, it is someone's right, however, I think it a poor choice, pretty disgusting, and a poor reflection on our humanity. I would not blink if it became illegal to have an abortion if the mother and baby were healthy. I always find it curious why someone would take up the "cause" of freedom of choice (because it really is about defending abortion). I think of all the worthy causes that I could spend my energy on, and the right to kill a fetus (or baby) that would otherwise turn out healthy is just not something you will find me marching on the mall for. There are many other positive things one can work towards to make this planet a better place. Sucking a baby out of a womb with a vaccuum is not one of them. |
